While we may associate this holiday with the earliest traditions of the formation of our nation, this season is also one to express our gratitude for a multitude of blessings as we gather with family and friends.

This seems a good time to take a few moments and ponder the many ways the Lord has showered his love upon you and me.

Most of us will likely not have a hard time coming up with at least half a dozen items. For me, these are at the top of the list:

God . . . my beloved husband . . . family . . . country . . . faith . . . friends

It is interesting to note that except for Number One, none of these are perfect in their presence in my life. Nor am I, should my name appear on someone else’s list.

That’s not the point.

The Divine will always be perfect. You and me? We are works in progress. However, as long as we give the Lord our fiat, he will go out of his way to love, nurture, guide, and carry us through the deepest valleys and celebrate with us when we stand atop the mountains.

By any description, that is a whole lot for which to be thankful.

About the Pause that Refreshes . . . Dearest faithful readers . . . In recent weeks I have had new health issues arise. The prognosis is good and I am on the mend, however, recovery is slow. As a result, I will not be posting new material until after the first of the year. In the meantime, may the good Lord envelop you in peace, joy, love, and hope as we journey through the holiday season. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
